So, I’ve decided to join in the fun and make an attempt at doing the 12 Days of Anime! This little event is where, leading up to Christmas, Anime blogs and YouTubers count down their 12 favorite anime and manga moments from the year past.
I hope you’ll drop by my little blog to check out my daily posts starting on December 14 and going all the way to Christmas Day! And, just to make things a little bit more interesting and because I do run a food-oriented blog after all, I’ve decided to make my 12 Days of Anime centered around my 12 most memorable anime food moments of 2015!
What will my selections be? What were your personal favorite food moments of 2015? Join in the discussion and check back on December 14 for the first of my posts for the 12 Days of Anime!
Running late with bread in my mouth: this is what life feels like at the moment….
As you have probably noticed, there haven’t been any updates on my blog for quite some time… Sorry! But, I’ve actually been in the middle of a big trans-pacific move that has taken me from Chicago all the way to my hometown in Vancouver, Canada, and then onward to my final destination of Tokyo, Japan.
The process of testing, tasting, and posting recipes can be pretty time intensive, and so between packing, unpacking, repacking, and now setting up a new life in a foreign country, I haven’t had the time to put together any new recipes…. I’m also so, so incredibly behind on watching any currently airing anime (so don’t expect any final impressions this time around…. at least not immediately), which is the main reason why there hasn’t been any Anime Food Samples lately.
But! Hopefully things will be gradually settling down, if just a little bit, and we’ll all be able to return to our regularly scheduled anime food-filled lives. I’ve got so many fun recipes I can’t wait to share, so I hope you’ll continue to stick with me!
If you’re interested in my daily life or want more immediate updates on my blog, please come hang out with me on Twitter! And, if you really can’t live without your daily anime food fix, check out my Tumblr, where I post daily images of food featured in anime!
Thanks for all the support, and hope to be back soon with some more delicious anime food 😀
(Updated July, 2015 with questions and nomination from The Garbage Man Reviews!)
Some time ago (okay, it was a long time ago, and I’m bad for putting this off for so long… sorry!), I was nominated by Otaku Daydreams for the Liebster Award!
I’m really honoured and happy to be nominated, and will be answering 11 questions about myself and my blog. The award is a great way to get to know the individuals behind the blogs we all read, and to explore new blogs. Hope you enjoy! Continue reading
This is just a quick notice to say that tomorrow I’ll be flying to Tokyo, Japan for a very special trip to visit my new niece! She was just born last month and I cannot wait to finally meet her! I’ll be meeting up with my parents and together we’ll all be traveling around Japan together, seeing some of the sights and, of course, sampling plenty of the local cuisine!
I will be away for the next 3 weeks, and sadly, I don’t think I’ll be able to update the site while I’m away, at least not with any new recipes! But, I’m sure that this trip will provide me with plenty of culinary inspiration that will in turn help improve my own cooking.
So, what kinds of recipes can you look forward to when I get back?
- Well, how about udon noodles made from scratch?
- Or, the ever popular strawberry shortcake?
- Perhaps tacos would be more your style?
- Want something more traditionally Japanese? How about tempura?
I hope you’ll pay Itadakimasu Anime! another visit at the end of October for a host of new content…. Check my twitter feed for quick updates on what I’ve been up to, and have fun exploring the recipes that are currently up on the site!
Until then, enjoy the start of the fall anime season and happy cooking!
Wondering how to navigate the grocery store aisles and track down all the ingredients in a recipe? Or maybe, you just want to know how and why to use a particular item… Either way, cooking can be a challenge if you don’t even know what you’re looking for!
Hopefully this ingredient list will help to mitigate some of the confusion! On this page, you will find many of the ingredients I list in the recipes on this site, with descriptions and, if applicable, substitutions.
I hope you find the ingredient list useful! It will be updated regularly as I think of new ingredients to add based on the recipes I provide on Itadakimasu Anime!, and I welcome any suggestions about how to make it easier to navigate.
