One thing I love seeing in anime is international food from countries other than just Japan. And, while last year we had the Middle Eastern-inspired foods of Arslan Senki, this year we have a great variety of international foods showcased in Yuri!!! on Ice.
All of the pictures in this post are from the mid episode cards, each of which features a different food (or drink, in once case) from the country/region featured in the episode. From Russian pirozhki and Spanish paella, to Japanese katsu-don and Chinese steamed crab, I always look forward to seeing what food is featured in each episode of Yuri!!! on Ice.
I think I find these mid-episode cards so charming because when I travel, one of the main things I just have to do is eat all the food I can from that region of the world. Sure, seeing the sights are fun and all, but I love to taste and smell the countries I visit as well…
