Curry has to be one of the most popular dishes in anime, and for good reason: it’s easy to make, perfect for a crowd, and is deliciously heartwarming, no matter what the season. Which is why, for my 8th day of the 12 Days of Anime, I’d like to dedicate a post entirely to the curries featured throughout anime in 2016.
Here’s a quick rundown of the curries I spotted this year in anime, arranged by season… Did I miss any? Tell me in the comments below! 🙂
Winter: Indian curry with naan (Dagashi Kashi), Japanese curry (Boku dake ga inai Machi)
Summer: Dry curry (Amaama to Inazuma)
Spring: Japanese curry made in cooking class (Flying Witch), Japanese curry with the rice shaped like a boat and paw print carrots (Haifuri)
Fall: Japanese curry topped with an onsen tamago and chicken karaage (March Comes in like a Lion), “Western-style curry” (Bungou Stray Dogs Season 2)
What was your favorite curry dish from 2016?
Have you ever made curry before? What kind and how delicious was it?
